My father said that, in 1955 when he was sixteen years old, there was a shoe repair shop on every corner. In 1980, when I was sixteen years old, you would be lucky to see a shoe repair shop in your city or town. One of the reasons why this happened is shoe manufacturers are able to make shoes with less quality for less money. But, that does not mean that some shoe manufacturers don't make quality shoes.
